Most vibration dampers absorb string-bed shock indiscriminately — reducing shock, but also deadening feedback and timing perception. Octo Damper is built from PEBA elastomer specifically to filter low-frequency shock while leaving high-frequency feel signal intact.
How it works
A ball impact excites vibration across a range of frequencies. Low-frequency vibration (approx. 200–400 Hz) is felt as shock in the hand and arm. High-frequency signal (1000 Hz and above) carries contact quality, timing, and feel. Most dampers absorb across the full spectrum. PEBA's low internal damping (tan δ ≈ 0.12, versus ≈0.40–0.60 for rubber/silicone) lets Octo Damper absorb the low-frequency shock while passing the high-frequency feel through.
